To fit Teddy Bear Height 14/16 (18/21) inches Chest 12/14 (17/19) inches

Materials
Knitting Worsted weight yarn 2 (3) ounces Main colour (M),
few yards each of Contrast colours A and B.
Knitting needles sizes 6 and 4
3(4) snaps

Front
Using size 4 needles and M cast on 43(61) sts.
1st row (right side): Kl, *pl,kl; rep from * to end.
2nd row: PI, *kl, p1; rep from * to end.
Rep the last 2 rows 1(2) times more.
Change to size 6 needles and joining in A and B as required commence pattern:
1st row: KIM, *1A, 1M; rep from * to end.
2nd row: P1A, *1M, 1A; rep from * to end.
3rd row: Using M, knit.
4th row: P1B, *2M, IB; rep from * to end.
5th row: KIM, *1B, 3M, IB, 1M; rep from *to end.
6th row: P2M, *1B, 1M, IB, 3M; rep from *to last 5 sts, plB, 1M, IB, 2M.
7th row: K1B, *2M, IB; rep from * to end.
8th row: Using M, purl.
9th row: K1A, *1M, 1A; rep from * to end.
10th row: P1M, *1A, 1M; rep from * to end.
Break off A and B.
Continuing in M only work 4(8) rows in st st, starting knit. ***

Shape Armholes
Cast off 8(11) sts at beg of next 2 rows. 27(39) sts remain. Work straight until armholes measure 2 (2 3/4 ) inches ending with a purl row.

Shape Neck
Next row: K5(6), k2tog, turn and complete this side first.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows.
Work 3 rows straight. Cast off remaining 4(5) sts.
Slip next 13(23) sts at center onto a holder for neckband.
With right side of work facing rejoin M to neck edge of remaining sts, k2tog, knit to end.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows. Work 4 rows straight.
Cast off remaining 4(5) sts.

Back
Work as given for Front to ***

Shape Armholes and Divide for Back Neck Opening
Next row: Cast off 8(11) sts, knit until there are 12(18) sts on right-hand needle after casting off, turn and cast on 3 sts. 15(21) sts.
Complete this side first.
Next row: K3, purl to end.
Next row: Knit.
Rep the last 2 rows until back measures same as front to start of neck shaping, ending with a wrong side row.

Shape Neck
Next row: K5(6), k2tog, turn and slip remaining 8(13) sts onto a holder for neckband.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows.
Work 3 rows straight. Cast off remaining 4(5) sts.

With right side of work facing rejoin M to next st and knit to end.
Next row: Cast off 8(11) sts, purl to last 3 sts, k3. 15(21) sts remain.
Next row: Knit.
Next row: Purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Rep the last 2 rows until back measures same as front to start of neck shaping ending with a wrong side row.

Shape Neck
Next row: K8(13), slip these sts onto a holder for neckband, k2tog, knit to end.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows.
Work 4 rows straight. Cast off remaining 4(5) sts.

Sleeves
Using size 4 needles and M cast on 31(43) sts and work 4(6) rows in kl, p1 rib as given for Front.
Change to size 6 needles and joining in A and B as required, work the 10 rows of pattern as given for Front. Break off A and B.
Continuing in M only work 6(18) rows in st st, starting knit.
Tie a marker at each end of last row to mark end of sleeve seam. Work 10(14) more rows in st st. Cast off.

Finishing and neckband
Block each piece. Join shoulder seams.

Neckband: Using size 4 needles and with right side of work facing, slip sts on holder at left back onto needle, then continuing on from these sts rejoin M and pick up and k6 sts up left back slope, 6 sts down left front slope, knit across sts on holder at center front, pick up and k6 sts up right front slope, 6 sts down right back slope, knit across sts on holder at right back. 53(73) sts.
Work 4(6) rows in kl, p1 rib as given for Front, starting with the 2nd row. Cast off loosely in rib.
Join side seams and sleeve seams to markers.
Insert sleeves. Slip stitch cast on sts at back neck opening in place. Press seams. Sew on snaps.
